Remember those cozy nights curled up with a good book, lost in a world of magic and adventure? That’s the power of storytelling. And guess what? Drama is all about storytelling, but with a twist!
Storytelling is right at the heart of drama at StageAbility. It’s how we connect with characters, empathise with their struggles, and celebrate their triumphs. Through storytelling, children develop their imagination, improve their language skills, enhance critical thinking and foster empathy.
StageAbility takes storytelling to a whole new level. By creating and acting out stories, our students create their own worlds. Sometimes within a period of history – this term we are travelling through time and creating material inspired by Greek Theatre, Shakespearian Theatre and a bit of Dickens too! It really bring their imaginations to life.
In doing this, they learn to develop characters beyond the words written on a script. From brave heroes to cunning villains, children in our classes often complex and interesting characters.
They explore different emotions and reactions, learning to understand some of their own feelings, too.
Working in small groups really builds their skills in collaboratin with others. Working together to create a story is a great way to build teamwork and communication skills. Time the project against the clock and you add in real focussing skills, too!
Storytelling is a powerful tool that can help children grow and learn. By incorporating drama and storytelling into your child’s life, you’re giving them the gift of imagination, creativity, and empathy. So, let’s keep the stories flowing!
