January always carries that sense of “fresh start” energy. New shoes, new notebooks, new intentions — and for many families, it’s also a time to think about what will truly support their child’s confidence and happiness over the coming months.
At StageAbility, this is exactly why we launched our Share the Stage initiative.
Rather than focusing on competition or comparison, Share the Stage is about something much simpler — and far more powerful: Inviting more children to experience the joy, connection and confidence that drama can bring.
Across all of our classes, our students are helping us reach a shared goal of welcoming new classmates who may just need that little nudge to try something new. And the ripple effect has already been lovely to see.
Why “sharing the stage” matters
Drama isn’t really about creating performers (though that often happens as a happy bonus!). It’s about:
- finding your voice
- learning to work as part of a team
- feeling safe enough to try, make mistakes, laugh and try again
- and discovering that you belong.
For some children, that sense of belonging arrives the first week. For others, it builds quietly, week after week, until suddenly they’re putting their hand up more at school, joining in more readily, or chatting more confidently with friends.
When our students invite others to join them, they’re not just “recruiting”. They’re saying: “This feels good. Come and feel it too.” That generosity of spirit is one of the things we’re most proud of.
A community challenge — not a competition
Share the Stage isn’t about individual classes winning. Instead, everyone across StageAbility is working together towards one school-wide target. That means:
✔ children encourage each other
✔ classes celebrate progress together
✔ everyone plays a part, no matter how big or small
It reinforces one of the most beautiful lessons drama teaches:
We are better — and braver — when we support one another.
And yes, there are incentives, celebrations and a bit of fun along the way (we do love a bit of excitement!). But at its heart, the challenge is about connection.
For children who are thinking about trying drama
We hear this a lot from parents:
“I think they’d love drama… but they’re a bit nervous.”
Nerves are completely normal. That’s why January is such a wonderful time to try a class. Everyone is finding their feet again after the holidays, routines are resetting, and our teachers are especially focused on creating calm, welcoming spaces. During a first class, we never throw children into the spotlight. They’re encouraged, included and supported — and they can join in at their own pace.
So if your child has been hovering on the edge of trying drama, Share the Stage creates a lovely opportunity to step in and give it a go.
For families already with us — thank you
Share the Stage simply wouldn’t work without our existing StageAbility families.
Thank you for:
- chatting about us at the school gates
- passing on our leaflets
- inviting friends along
- and generally cheering us on!
Every conversation you have may be the one that helps another child find their “place”.
And that matters.
What happens next?
Throughout January and beyond, we’ll be:
🎭 welcoming new trial students
🎭 celebrating progress together
🎭 sharing updates as we move towards our whole-school goal
🎭 and making sure every child — new or returning — feels part of something special
Because when more children feel confident, connected and valued, everyone benefits.
Thinking of joining?
If your child would like to try a class as part of Share the Stage, we’d love to welcome them. They’ll meet friendly faces, explore fun activities, and begin discovering what they’re capable of — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.
If you have questions, want to chat it through, or are ready to book a trial, just get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
Here’s to a year of courage, kindness and sharing the stage… together.
